A piece of advice from 50 Successful IVY LEAGUE Application Essays🧡

🧶 Hackneyed
-> a hackneyed phrase or idea has been said or used so often that it has become boring and has no meaning

a hackneyed plot

Oana's essay opens with a fresh perspective on a theme that is often overused and can easily become hackneyed — love

🧶 Penultimate = second from the last

In her penultimate paragraph, Oana relates her long process of learning Spanish to her "ambitious and aggressive spirit"...

🧶 Regurgitate -> if you regurgitate facts, you just repeat what you have heard without thinking about it

It is better to end the essay in a way that seems fresh, rather than regurgitating what has already been said

People are just regurgitate what they see on TV

🧶 Unabashedly = in an unabashed way (= without any worry about possible criticism)

Be unabashed in your personal statement!!!

The resources we use for our challenge:

🧶 Cambridge dictionary - the most popular and useful dictionary. Be sure to look at all the explanations for a word + synonyms and antonyms.

Example:
Delicate = fragile = breakable - хрупкий

🧶 A website with clippings from movies/videos which helps to learn a phrase or a word in context.

🧶 We Google words and read articles with topics related to them. Watch YouTube and tik-tok videos to memorize words faster!

🧶 We analyze all parts of speech of a singular word (verb, noun, ect).

Example:
aware - осведомлённый ;
awareness - осведомлённость.

🧶 We write mini stories using new words.

Our results in 3 days:
Anne: 115/1000
Sonya: 83/1000

Put reactions and add your words in the comments🧡
