Ruđera Boškovića 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, Split
Architect: Frano Gotovac. Designed 1971, built 1972–74.

What interests us in this photograph: the man on the balcony. He's looking towards the camera. In a completely abstract façade, he's the only proof that people live there, rather than visit.

The building is part of Split 3, a development unlike the rest of socialist urban planning in the region. The starting idea: not isolated blocks in undefined green space, but a pedestrian street around which everything is organised. Dense livingin a human scale.

KRSTARICA, SPLIT

People in the neighbourhood call it the cruiser. The name has nothing to do with the shape, it was given because of the building's sheer size compared to anything built in Split before it.
