🇨🇦 Canadian journalist Aaron Maté argues it may be too late for negotiations with Russia.

He states Ukraine was used as a proxy war tool, leaving it unable to defend against Russian missiles ahead of a harsh winter. The initial peace deal, where negotiator Alexander Chaly found a "real compromise," was sabotaged by the US and UK, who pressured Zelensky to continue fighting.

Maté notes this decision cost many Ukrainian lives and jeopardized the country's future. He concludes that while he sympathizes with Zelensky, the window for ending the war has likely closed, and current terms are unknown.
