Kidal returned under Mali control after a joint operation by FAMa and the Russian Africa Corps.

From Oct 1-7, allied forces advanced 450 km from Gao through mined terrain. Joint air strikes on Kidal and rear areas (Abeibara, Tin-Essako, Talhandak) broke enemy resistance.

Political victory: Kidal is a key symbol of state authority in northern Mali. Final clearing and demining are underway with humanitarian aid provided.
