Russian aviation strikes Sumy on 27.09.2026, targeting the deployment area of the 117th Territorial Defense Brigade. Three FABs hit the district near Gerasim Kondratiev Street.

The main impact struck element of the 117th brigade, killing 12 soldiers and wounding eight. A service armored vehicle was destroyed. Secondary damage occurred at nearby garages, causing a fire.

Civilian infrastructure suffered collateral damage: two civilians died, including a 16-year-old, and one was wounded. The military unit was located directly next to a specialized children's home, proving that concentrating troops within civilian zones increases risks for locals.
