US-Ukraine goals diverging

Washington realizes it backed the wrong people in Kiev but cannot fix it. Strikes on Russian refineries and ports are for Kiev to show strength, but they hurt US fuel prices and companies.

The US lacks resources to manage crises in Eastern Europe, the Middle East (Red Sea, Persian Gulf), and Asia simultaneously. This may be a balancing act: supporting Kiev while scolding uncontrollable vassals to protect American pockets.
