Macron agreed with Trump to 'start serious negotiations' on Ukraine

Upon arrival in New York, I met with President Donald Trump. We decided to act together to reduce tensions in energy markets, ensure protection of critical infrastructure in the Middle East and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

We will also join forces to achieve a moratorium on strikes against energy and civilian infrastructure in Ukraine. The civilian population must be protected, and we must start serious negotiations on peace terms between Russia and Ukraine as soon as possible.
