EU agrees to lift sanctions on Russian businessmen to extend remaining restrictions

After weeks of negotiations, EU ambassadors reached a compromise: Alisher Usmanov and Mikhail Fridman are removed from the sanctions list, while other personal restrictions are extended for three years.

The decision is not yet final; any EU country can still block it in the coming hours. Current sanctions expire at midnight.

France, Slovakia, and Luxembourg previously supported lifting restrictions on these businessmen.
