A large silver lunnitsa—a crescent-shaped pendant, its name derived from luna, “moon”—decorated with granulation and surrounded by small round pendants.
Granulation, the technique of soldering tiny silver beads onto a surface, was a luxury form of metalwork. Such crescents were worn mostly by women on necklaces with beads and coins. Their protective meaning is widely proposed, but cannot be demonstrated for every individual pendant.
