A thousand years before the animated film #Rapunzel was made, and 800 years before the story of Rapunzel was written in Europe, the story of Zal and Rudabeh was written in #Iran    in the Shahnameh, by Ferdowsi.
The #Shahnameh is a book that tells the stories of Iranian mythology in poetry.
This Iranian story and the German story have some similarities, but in my opinion, the Iranian story is more beautiful. If you are interested, you can look it up yourself, as it is a long story.
