we’re excited to announce the next book for our english book club — to paradise by hanya yanagihara 🌳

the book is quite lengthy, so we’ve decided to give everyone more time to read and schedule our next meeting for december. to paradise is the third novel by american author hanya yanagihara, who gained fame with her book a little life (2015). to paradise is a sweeping work divided into three timelines, exploring alternative realities of the united states. at our meeting, we will discuss the genre specifics of the novel, its temporal structure, as well as the themes of freedom, social inequality, love and vulnerability. we will also talk about the issue of identity in various historical contexts and simply share our thoughts on this highly talked-about novel.

— the advised english level for participation would start from b1. however, you are welcome to participate if you're not sure about what your level is but feel eager to share your opinion and discuss the book with others;
— the book club will be held in english; hence we expect you to be familiar with the original text. if you don't have a lot of experience reading literature in english and feel unsure about whether you can read the whole book, you may read it in russian or serbian. nevertheless, we recommend taking a look at some extracts and chapters in english so you can get to know what the author's writing style is like
