David Lindsay, the novelist most famous for his A Voyage to Arcturus, took a different approach to his second novel, The Haunted Woman. He toned down the weird just a bit and ended up creating one of the first liminal horror novels! In this story a man is trying to sell a house but it keeps spawning random impossible staircases and the people that go up these staircases don't remember anything when they come back down! This is a mix of House of Leaves and Chekhov's The Lady with the Pet Dog.
