IRAN’S EXTREMIST ISLAMIST REGIME SENTENCES BLOGGER TO DEATH FOR SPEAKING OUT AGAINST THE GOVERNMENT

Iranian blogger Soda Ebrahimi Shamsabadi has reportedly been sentenced to death by a Revolutionary Court after being convicted of “corruption on earth.” Authorities accused her of insulting slain Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, conducting anti-government media activities, working with “hostile governments,” and photographing the site of a missile strike before sending the image to Persian-language media abroad. The court also imposed additional prison terms, ordered her property confiscated and restricted access to certain government services. Human-rights groups say Shamsabadi suffers from multiple sclerosis and other illnesses and have raised concerns about her access to medical care. Before her arrest, she openly condemned Iran’s crackdown on anti-government protesters.
