We are in the process of upgrading testnet from v2 ➡️ v2.5. This could / should well be our final chain upgrade before mainnet. This is totally normal, as we continue to iterate for a secure, and scable environment in mainnet.
Why we done it:
- Updating the block validation process.
- Adjusting the node's participation in the network's consensus mechanism.
- Upgrading the node ensures for security patches and enhancements
- Minimizing the risk of attacks or exploits.
- Performance improvements to enhance the node's efficiency, scalability, or throughput to faster transaction processing & reduced resource consumption.
- Upgrading the node ensures that it can communicate and interact seamlessly with other nodes, avoiding any disruptions or incompatibility issues.
- Stake value update (see below)
- Increase in withdrawl time to manage the node's participation in network.
What changes:
- Node runners: If you set up a node in testnet v2, you will have to set it back up
- Balances will be zero again, please request from faucet again
- Amount required to stake (now 1M SCPT tokens - validators, 10k SCPT tokens - lightning, 3k SCPT tokens - edge)
What stays the same:
Everything else
When will the upgrade take place:
Early next week
Will testnet work from now until then?
No, it will not be functional until this upgrade is complete
