世界上最古老的八爪鱼其实不是八爪鱼
一具名为“最古老八爪鱼”的化石被揭露为身份认错。高级成像技术显示出其内部牙齿，证明它实际上与章鱼无关，而是与梭子蟹有关。这种混淆来自于化石形成前的腐烂改变了其形状。这一发现重新书写了部分演化历史，推迟了章鱼的起源时间。
