研究表明，微重力环境下，精子虽然仍能正常游动，但失去了方向感，这使得它们难以到达并与卵子结合。在模拟太空条件的实验室实验中，精子通过模拟生殖道的迷宫的成功率大大降低，实验鼠的受精率下降约30%。
