Don’t be fooled by high-scoring students who claim that nearly every question can be easily solved using Desmos. These students are often so proficient in math that they would do well even without a graphing calculator. They possess the skill set to use Desmos to its fullest potential, but they often miss the fact that it’s their ability to use the tool, and not so much the tool itself, that makes the tool valuable. They may feel like Desmos is solving most of the questions for them, but in reality, they’re only remembering the questions for which Desmos helped them avoid a bunch of work they already knew how to do. A tool is only as effective as the person wielding it.
