The Old Icelandic equivalent was Tvímánuður, literally two-month. As Bede tells us it was an important time for sacred rites, and it’s the ninth month of the year, I suspect it may have been related to Odin’s epithet Tveggi, twofold, which appears in the Völuspá, and on the Sjelle Runestone. ᚬ
