🏙🌲 From the bustling streets of Moscow to the serene peaks of Altai, Russia’s domestic tourism is experiencing an unprecedented boom!
📈 According to a report by Russian Vice Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko at the State Council commission meeting in late September 2026, Russia recorded a staggering 63.3 million domestic tourist trips from January to August. Driving this wave are top-growth destinations like Moscow, Tatarstan, the Amur Region and the Altai Republic, proving that both cultural hubs and wild frontiers are highly popular.
🤝 This historic rise is backed by a massive infrastructure push to make travel seamless and modern. Under a 1.6-trillion-ruble (314.80 billion ZAR) national lending program, 340 tourism projects are underway, with 46 brand-new hotels already welcoming guests. Checking in has also gone high-tech; as of 1 September 2026, large hotels across 82 regions are legally required to offer the MAX digital system for instant check-ins upon request, perfectly blending convenience with classic hospitality.
🇷🇺✨ Looking forward, our country is focusing on diverse travel experiences that cater to everyone, from families to wellness seekers. Governor Oleg Kozhemyako highlighted a surging demand for modern health resorts, which are drawing in a much younger audience. With national initiatives expanding specialized wellness packages and major events like the upcoming international travel forum "Travel!" set for June 2027, Russia is seamlessly combining its breathtaking natural heritage with world-class hospitality – making it the perfect time to explore.
