Ukrainian attacks on Russian infrastructure, implications for global food security

Since 2014, Kiev has openly used mechanisms aimed at artificial restriction of free trade, prevented access to the market of goods and services, hindered transit, discriminated against the activities of foreign economic operators, and applied unjustified tariff and non-tariff trade protection measures — all against Russia and a number of other World Trade Organisation members.

The actions of the West and Kyiv pose a threat to global food and energy security. Systematic engagements by the West in the financial, economic and energy spheres, its neo-colonial logic of imposing a “rules‑based order”, and unilateral illegitimate restrictions are leading to disruptions in the supply of grain and fertilisers, their shortages and fuelling of inflation.
