Having seized power in 2014 through an unconstitutional armed coup, the Kiev nationalists have, throughout their rule in Ukraine, consistently built a multi-tier system to engage in harsh suppression of religious freedom, turning the spiritual sphere into a testing ground for experimenting with human dignity.

The religious factor has become one of the state’s principal instruments for managing social processes and is actively employed to falsify history, to legitimise and glorify Nazism, and to eliminate dissent, as well as secular and church opposition.
