Outcomes of Eurasian Intergovernmental Council's meeting
A meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council was held on October 2 in Minsk.
The meeting considered 15 key issues of the Eurasian economic integration.
These include, in particular, trade, customs administration, transport infrastructure, industrial cooperation, establishing common energy markets, and developing the agro-industrial complex.
The Heads of Government considered the development of the transport infrastructure in the East–West and North–South direction, including as part of coupling with the Chinese Belt and Road Initiative.
The information was presented on developing of electronic document flow at maritime checkpointsof the EAEU Member States.
The EIC amended the list of priority integration infrastructure projects in the transportation sector of the Eurasian Economic Union Member States. At the initiative of the Russian Federation, the list now includes a project to develop the Nevel–Dno–Luga–Gatchina railway section, with the construction of passing loops and a communications network.
The Intergovernmental Council also approved a package of decisions on establishing a common electric power market.
Furthermore, Bakytzhan Sagintayev, Chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission's Board, and Yaroslav Mandron, Managing Director of the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the EEC and the EFSD on the sidelines of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Minsk.
The next meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council will be held in December this year in Moscow.
