# A QUICK WORD ON WHAT'S NEXT

Today’s update was intentionally on the smaller side, as stated in the event tab about a week ago. There was also some content that we did not have enough time to finish that will come in a "Part 2" update for the Reactor 4 sometime soon. We wanted to get small new content, but most importantly fixes, and improvements into your hands while we prepare for what is next...

*But what is next?*

From this point forward, our main development focus will be shifting toward two major things: the Examination recode and Sector 4.
-# I know you guys have been waiting for those words.

Beside Sector 1 and Sector 2 polishing that our talented builders would do in the background, we feel like Examination's current base storyline is finally in a state where we can call it finished in terms of the setting BEFORE Sector 4, aside from smaller improvements here and there.. Of course, due to this, updates may become a little slower for a while.

But do not be alarmed! That does not mean development is slowing down.

*Quite the opposite, actually.* A lot of the work ahead of us is foundational work that simply isn’t something we can package into a new update every week. If you've seen [iris's](https://www.youtube.com/@Iriszeik) videos, the recode is about rebuilding and improving parts of Examination that have accumulated over years of development, including a lot of systems that was made back when the project was much smaller and we honestly had no idea what we were doing 😭
Sector 4 + Recode is something we want to give the time and the greatest update that it deserves.

As you have probably noticed from the devblogs and sneak peeks, I wanted to be much more open about development while we work. Expect frequent previews, devlogs, and looks behind the scenes so you guys can actually follow along instead of sitting in the dark wondering what we’re doing. Of course I'll try to do the best I can with this, I get very busy and so does our dev team but do subscribe to the [official development channel](https://www.youtube.com/@ExaminationOfficial) where long form content on the game will be shown when things are ready to be shown.

And as a personal note, thank you!

the amount of support you guys have shown us recently has been UNREAL. Every update, every suggestion, every person bringing their friends into the game, every piece of art, every video, every stupid gilbert tiktok shitpost, our team looks at every single bit of content from our game and it is one of our greatest motivators to make content for the game.

This silly little project we've all known as Examination has grown far beyond anything we originally imagined. Seeing it on the front page with five-digit CCU is something none of us could have realistically predicted back when the game sometimes had barely 20 people playing it

we want to make sure what comes next is the magnum opus, so we hope to not let you down!!

For clarity since alot of you are new here and recode hasn't been discussed in a bit, the recode is an entire foundational rewrite top to bottom, it'll include a new gun system with AI reworks, UI overhauls, sector overhauls, class reworks, and most importantly something new we're excited to integrate into Examination's core experience;
