Normal services resume on MTR's Kwun Tong Line
The MTR on Wednesday said services on the Kwun Tong Line are gradually returning to normal after trains temporarily skipped Lam Tin Station due to platform equipment emitting smoke. The incident occurred at around 9am, disrupting traffic during the morning rush hour. Free shuttle bus services were arranged between Kwun Tong, Lam Tin, and Yau Tong stations while the disruption was underway. Savina, who was commuting from HKU station to Lam Tin for work, said she was pleased with the temporary transport arrangements. “Maybe 45 minutes before I was in the MTR station and I found out about the situation, and I think it's ok because there's a shuttle bus” she said. But since passengers had to walk down a long staircase to reach the outdoor shuttle bus stop, some commuters, including a 90-year-old woman, were unhappy with the MTR's arrangements. “I walked all the way to the bus station on the other side and back. Now I have to go down a huge flight of stairs, so how am I supposed to do that? Even young people struggle with them. I am really furious,” she said. Another commuter, Lam, said she was not happy with how the MTR shared information, adding that she would have taken another route if she had known about the disruption before leaving Tseung Kwan O.
