CE pledges greater Greater Bay Area integration
Chief Executive John Lee on Friday pledged to keep driving coordinated development in the Greater Bay Area, boosting tech cooperation, infrastructure links and cross-border rules alignment. Speaking in a video address at the 10th Global Greater Bay Area Summit, he said the government will press ahead with major cooperation platforms in Qianhai, Nansha and Hetao, working together to build the Greater Bay Area into a world-class bay area and city cluster with global influence. "The Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Guangzhou innovation cluster has ranked first globally for two consecutive years, fully demonstrating the Greater Bay Area's strength and potential in innovation and technology," he said. "The SAR government will continue to promote deep integration of the Greater Bay Area's innovation, industrial, capital and talent chains, and actively cultivate new quality productive forces." The CE said Hong Kong would continue to strengthen its role as an international financial, shipping, trade and aviation hub, while building itself into an international innovation and technology centre and a hub for top talent. He also said the government will speed up work on the Northern Metropolis. The plan is to create a university town with strong tech and industry, and to make it a great place to live, work and visit – bringing education, technology and talent together, Lee said.
