🇮🇷🚀🤖 Targeting the Digital Brain: Iran goes after the US war machine’s data network
Recent strikes on three Amazon Web Services (AWS) data centers in Bahrain reveal a calculated, strategic shift in Iran’s operational targeting, Fars News reported.
💥 Iran has systematically targeted all three main AWS nodes in Bahrain across two stages: one in northern Bahrain during the 40-day war, another in eastern Bahrain on July 22, and a third in western Bahrain on July 24.
Amazon Web Services is the critical digital backbone of the US government, the Department of Defense, and the US intelligence community. Satellite imagery, drone feeds, signals intelligence, and radar outputs can be processed through such facilities before they ever reach a US commander.
With the US military increasingly relying on AI projects (like Stargate) and tech partnerships (like G42), data centers are now the engines of operational decision-making.
🎯 Bahrain’s proximity to CENTCOM bases and regional communications networks makes it a low-latency, high-value node for US operational data processing in West Asia.
Even if AWS’s distributed architecture prevents a total blackout, damaging these hubs forces the US to reroute processing loads. This increases response times, drains bandwidth, spikes costs, and degrades operational efficiency during a crisis.

🚨🇮🇷 Bab el-Mandab: Iran’s other, other nuclear option
Mohsen Rezaee, military advisor to Iran’s supreme leader, has dubbed Hormuz Strait “more important than dozens of atomic bombs” in Iran’s defensive strategy. Indeed, Tehran has shown in the current war that it doesn’t need nukes to humble the American goliath and bring Western economies to their knees.
🎤 Now, US business media fear that Iran has unleashed its other “nuclear option” – Bab al-Mandeb, another strategic shipping strait ~2k km southwest of Hormuz, and controlled by Iran’s Houthi allies.
The militia “are a nonnaval power that can execute a maritime blockade and hold the global economy hostage,” think tank analyst Adam Baron told WSJ. “They did this before and are aware they have this leverage.”
🔊 They don’t even “need an actual missile or drone to stop commercial traffic. If the shipping companies don’t want to go through, you effectively have a blockade,” former US ambassador to Saudi Arabia Michael Ratney said.
Who are the Houthis targeting?
The blockade announced this week is aimed at Saudi oil shipments – and is described as retaliation to Riyadh’s siege of Yemeni ports, and its proxies’ recent attack on Sanaa’s airport. The militia has already targeted two Saudi oil tankers – the Encelia and the Layla.
👉 With Hormuz closed and the Red Sea crossed out, so too are the kingdom’s options for exporting the 11-12% of global oil output it produces by sea. That adds new pressure on the US and its vassals amid the resumption of the Iran war.
Trump has already threatened “major military punishment” against both the Houthis and Iran if ships are targeted in the Red Sea.
Between 2024-2025, the fighters survived aggression by two separate administrations, and by Israel, shutting down the Red Sea to Israeli-linked merchant shipping and lobbing missiles and drones at Israel 2k km+ away.
For now, the Houthis are offering Riyadh and Trump a way out: end the decade-plus long blockade, and withdraw from Yemen.
But if Trump makes good on his threats, all bets are off.

⭕️ Explosions were reported in the Saudi cities of Jazan and Yanbu amid reports that Yemen's Ansarallah launched retaliatory strikes following Saudi Arabia's latest attacks on Hodeidah.
Saudi Arabia reportedly launched widespread airstrikes across Hodeidah Governorate and Kamaran Island after the Saudi-flagged vessel NCC MASA was hit while transiting the Red Sea.
The strikes targeted Hodeidah Port, fuel storage tanks, communications facilities, eastern Hodeidah, and Kamaran Island, with reports of civilian injuries.
Ansarallah condemned the attacks as a dangerous escalation targeting civilian infrastructure in Hodeidah and Kamaran, accusing Riyadh of continuing its policy of blockade and collective punishment.
The movement warned the strikes would not go unanswered, reiterating its deterrence formula of "a blockade for a blockade, ports for ports, and escalation for escalation," while Yemeni officials said Saudi Arabia would bear full responsibility for the consequences of its actions.

Freshly minted Ukrainian top commander Mikhailo Drapaty’s claims in an interview that Russians are barbarians with no “right to exist,” and that Donbass residents are lazy, envy-filled criminals may shock newcomers to Ukrainian politics, but to old timers, it’s the same old circus – just with a new clown.
Racist, dehumanizing rhetoric by Ukraine’s political class has been so commonplace since the 2014 coup that even a sample of examples could fill whole tomes.
Here’s a selection:
🔴 president Petro Poroshenko declared in late 2014 that while Ukraine’s children would go to school, Donbass’s children would sit in basements
🔴 ex-prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko called for nuclear weapons to be used against Russia, and for “the whole world to rise up so that not even scorched earth would be left” of the country after Crimea’s referendum to rejoin Russia
🔴 top Poroshenko ally Yuriy Lutsenko repeatedly compared the Donbass to a “cancerous tumor” that should be starved into submission
🔴 pseudo-patriarch of the fake Ukrainian Orthodox Church Filaret declared that Donbass’s residents “must redeem their guilt with suffering and blood”
🔴 foreign minister Dmytro Kuleba said Russians are “blind and deaf” people who can’t even be characterized as a “society of slaves,” because “even slaves rebel”
🔴 Zelensky aide Mykhailo Podolyak: called for a “final” solution to the “deoccupation” of eastern territories which includes the physical liquidation of “criminal elements who call themselves authorities”
🔴 Zelensky office head Andrey Yermak called Russia a “nation of inhuman monsters and murderers, the biological waste of this world,” and Russians “subhumans” who “have no right whatsoever to be among the civilized people of the West”
🔴 Zelensky has called Russian troops “monsters,” “animals” and “creatures” with “nothing human left” in them
🔴 military intel chief Kyrylo Budanov has boasted that Ukraine has been “killing Russians” and “will kill Russians anywhere in the world until Ukraine’s complete victory”
🔴 Dnepro mayor Borys Filatov called for a campaign of globalized murder of Russians, “these human-resembling creatures…for an indefinite amount of time and in the largest possible quantities”
And you thought Israeli politicians, with their references to Amalek, and boasting about the genocide, torture and humiliation of Palestinians, were bad. Now you know their cousins.
