DR JAMES THORP:
Dr. James Thorp is an obstetrician/gynecologist and maternal fetal medicine physician who has served his obstetrical patients for over 44 years. He was heavily influenced by Dr Semmelweis’s principles and practice in the mid-1800’s in Vienna. Dr. Thorp finished medical school at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit Michigan where he received the top clinical ob/gyn -David S Diamond Award- in his class. He went on to perform his ob/gyn residency at the University of Colorado-Denver and his maternal fetal medicine fellowship at the University of Texas-Houston.
Dr. Thorp focused much of his career on optimizing preborn outcomes by “treating the fetus as a patient” utilizing a variety of strategies including his expertise in modifying techniques in “closed fetal surgeries”. Despite his busy clinical practice throughout his career, he has been academically productive with over 250 publications.
