An unusual road accident occurred on Sunday at the Profiti Ilia roundabout on the Ayia Napa–Paralimni road. According to preliminary information, the driver of a white rental convertible lost control, drove onto the central island of the roundabout and crashed into the well-known “Your Endless Summer” landmark.
The impact caused severe damage to the front of the vehicle, deployed the airbags and destroyed part of the iconic sign. Despite the dramatic crash, no injuries were reported.
The circumstances of the accident are under investigation. Police are once again reminding drivers, especially tourists using rental cars, to reduce speed and exercise extra caution when approaching roundabouts.
