🇺🇦🇷🇺⚡️- A 26-year-old Russian lieutenant helped Ukrainian intelligence kill more than 300 Russian soldiers, including senior officers, during a covert sabotage campaign inside his own army, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Lev Stupnikov, a communications officer in Russia's 36th Motorized Rifle Brigade, became disillusioned with the military's corruption, brutality and invasion of Ukraine. His mother helped connect him with Ukrainian intelligence in February 2024. He agreed to cooperate on one condition: no money.
That month, he supplied the coordinates of 120-150 Russian troops and officers gathered near Vuhledar, then moved out of the strike zone. Ukrainian missiles reportedly killed 68 and wounded 60. Among the dead were 10 officers, including brigade commander Colonel Gusein Musayev.
Stupnikov continued leaking troop positions, battle plans, radio frequencies and surveillance feeds while sabotaging cameras and drone equipment. His intelligence enabled further strikes before he escaped across the front lines in July 2024, guided by a Ukrainian drone. He subsequently joined the Russian Volunteer Corps to fight against Moscow.
