Saudi Arabia issued similar statements previously, which were proven false by Rerum Novarum, in regards to the Ansarullah attack on Jizan's ARAMCO oil refinery, southwest Saudi Arabia, on July 24.
Unlike the July 24 strike on the Jizan refinery, which appears to have hit the facility's tank farm, the strike on Abqaiq seems to have impacted the refinery's processing section itself (
25.9298000, 49.6966000), potentially indicating a more direct hit on critical processing equipment. Note, no Iraqi-based militia group has yet claimed responsibility for any strike on Abqaiq. The only faction to have announced an attack on Saudi Arabia today is Ansarullah, which stated that its drones targeted Yanbu on the Kingdom's west coast, more than 1,000 kilometers from Abqaiq in the east.
