An update on Linera

To the Linera community,

We're very sad to share that Linera is ceasing operations, effective immediately and for the foreseeable future.

This comes down to funding. Our sale on Sonar drew nearly $900,000 in commitments, and we are grateful to everyone who took part. The total fell short of the minimum required for the sale to close, so all contributions have been refunded. After the sale, we worked hard to find emergency funding that would carry the company through to mainnet, but we were not able to secure what was needed. The decision does not reflect on the technology, the team, or this community.

The app is now being wound down. Points balances will be kept on record. We want to be honest with you: given the closure, we cannot promise that points will receive any consideration in the future.

We are also working on winding down this Discord. We will answer questions here as best we can while that happens, and we will give notice before the server closes.

There are many people to thank. To our moderators, who gave their time to keep this server welcoming and well run, often at all hours: thank you. To our advisors, who offered their guidance and their networks and stood by us through the hardest weeks: thank you. To everyone who ran a testnet node, tried an app, reported a bug, or simply showed up here to talk about what we were building: thank you. Each of you was part of Linera, and the work is better for it.

We know this is not the news you hoped for, and it is not the news we hoped to deliver.

We still hope to finish the protocol and launch applications on it in the future. That road is longer than we had planned, and we cannot offer a timeline today.
