Funny that NEAR — a popular L1 right now — has a $7 billion market cap.
But nobody can explain why NEAR specifically. Nobody uses it directly, and NEAR as a blockchain doesn’t earn anything. All we know is that it raised $500 million from institutions from tops of the market (more than anyone else), the same people behind ZEC are behind it (Barry Silbert and company), it’s tied to privacy, and there’s NEAR Intents.
And we can say roughly the same about Starknet…
It raised a record amount — $300 million from all the top names in the market (Paradigm, Pantera, Sequoia, etc.).
It’s tied to privacy and quantum resistance, and it doesn’t earn anything either.
