Who's Next After Abstract?
Abstract and Blast both shut down for the same reason: running the chain cost more than it earned. When Blast announced its closure, it was making about $110 a day. Seven of the eight chains below earn less than that.
Together they raised ~$638M, yet their combined revenue is roughly $300 a day, about $110K a year. Berachain raised $142M and earns $31 a day. Data Network and Celestia raised $230M between them and booked $0 in the last 24 hours. Sonic leads the group at $170, which is still less than a single developer's daily salary.
Low revenue doesn't mean a shutdown is coming. Most of these teams still have treasuries and token reserves to fund operations. But the gap between what they raised and what the chain earns is the same gap that ended Blast and Abstract.
