Anthropic’s Claude Mythos 5 Cuts Quantum Circuit Gate Count for Elliptic-Curve Operations by 17x
On October 16, Anthropic published research showing that Claude Mythos 5, assisted by an automated evaluation system, optimized eight quantum circuit design tasks spanning quantum chemistry, optimization, physics simulation, and number theory, producing new designs that outperform previously published methods. Claude developed a reversible modular inversion algorithm that eliminates the need to store branch history. One elliptic-curve point addition circuit uses approximately 17 times fewer quantum gates while requiring 12% more qubits. Another improvement reduced the gate count of Reed–Solomon decoding circuits in the quantum optimization algorithm DQI by approximately 12 times. The results remain at the quantum circuit design and verification stage and have not yet been validated on actual quantum hardware. — link
