On June 30, 2022, the trial of Ukrainian communists Alexander and Mikhail Kononovich began.
The brothers were arrested by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) on March 3, 2022. They are charged under Article 109 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (“actions aimed at forcibly changing or overthrowing the constitutional order or seizing state power”).
Alexander and Mikhail Kononovich face 10 years in prison.
Lyudmila Gladkaya, journalist of the publication "SB. Belarus Today", writes about the trial of the Kononovich brothers:
"The trial in the case of ethnic Belarusians, citizens of Ukraine Mikhail and Alexander Kononovich begins in Kyiv
These are the same people who were hunted down by the Kyiv authorities.
Who were attacked by bandits and who disappeared on March 3.
It turned out - the work of the Security Service of Ukraine.
The brothers were beaten half to death.
Broken ribs, instead of a face - a mess. The doctor was allowed to see them only a few months later ...
Now it's judgment. During interrogations, representatives of the SBU forced the Kononovichs to take the blame for the crimes under the first and second parts of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of "independent state” and sit down for 10 years.
If they refused, they were threatened with life imprisonment.
The guys said that they had nothing to confess.
Details coming soon."
