On June 16, 2022, the Minister of Justice of Ukraine, Denis Malyuska, announced, "the judiciary has CLEARLY dealt with one of the skeletons in the closet - the ban of the Communist Party of Ukraine (CPU)": https://www.facebook.com/100011121947008/posts/1689779104736138/
The fact is that according to the law on "decommunization" in 2015, communist ideology and symbols were banned in Ukraine.
On July 23, 2015, the Ministry of Justice banned the CPU and its candidates from participating in any elections in Ukraine.
That is, the CPU actually could not carry out its activities.
On December 16, 2015, the court of first instance banned the activities of the KPU formally. However, the party filed an appeal against this decision.
The Court of Appeal "imperceptibly" (the court session was not reported) considered the complaint only on May 16, 2022 and upheld the Communist Party's ban.
Malyuska also said that "in the coming days we expect an interesting and FAST consideration of the lawsuit to ban the Opposition Platform for Life in the Lviv Administrative Court of Appeal."
That is, in fact, the minister announced a ban on the largest opposition party in the near future.
Starting from June 8, 2022, a court in Lviv has already banned 7 leftist and opposition parties.
Malyuska noted that such quick and massive court decisions to ban parties became possible after Zelensky signed a law on May 14, 2022 that simplifies the ban on political organizations:
