A mass ban on opposition political parties continues in Ukraine.
On June 13, the Administrative Court of Appeal in the city of Lviv banned the Justice and Development party: https://lb.ua/society/2022/06/13/519891_sud_zaboroniv_tretyu_partiyu_zi_spisku.html.
Representatives of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, which filed a lawsuit to ban the party, said in court that Justice and Development should be banned because the former leader of the party, Mykola Isaenko, was the author of a petition in which he asked the President of Ukraine to "immediately close foreign military bases and bacteriological laboratories on the territory of Ukraine".
Isaenko also asked that Russian be declared the state language in Ukraine along with Ukrainian.
At the time when Isaenko headed the party, it was called the All-Ukrainian Chernobyl Party for the Welfare and Social Protection of the People.
In 2018, the party was renamed Justice and Development, and Aleksey Shevchenko was elected its leader.
The court decided that the arguments of the Ministry of Justice were sufficient to ban the party.
Party property confiscated.
In total, starting from June 8, 2022, 4 political parties are banned in Ukraine by a court decision.
In addition to "Justice and Development", "Socialists", "Opposition Bloc" and "Ours" are banned.
On June 16, 2022, the same Lviv court will consider lawsuits to ban the Left Opposition, the Shariy Party, and the Opposition Platform for Life.
Later, the court will consider claims to ban the Socialist Party of Ukraine, the Progressive Socialist Party of Ukraine, the Union of Left Forces, the Derzhava Party, and the Volodymyr Saldo Bloc.
In a militaristic and anti-democratic atmosphere, there is no doubt that ALL left-wing parties in Ukraine will be banned.
There is also no doubt that their appeals against the decision to ban the Supreme Court of Ukraine will be rejected due to pressure on judges from the Kyiv authorities.
Ukrainian citizens, including members of banned parties, also cannot apply to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) with claims for violation of their rights by the state of Ukraine, since on March 2, 2022, the ECHR, at the request of the Kyiv government, decided that will consider claims against Ukraine for an indefinite period:
