Also during these attacks, two monks and a nun were killed.
Three monks are wounded.
The number of dead and wounded lay people of the Church is unknown.
The monastery is located in the city of Svyatogorsk, for which there are now battles between the troops of the Russian Federation and the Donetsk People's Republic on the one hand and Ukrainian troops on the other.
Which side shelled the monastery is unknown.
Now the monastery is under the control of Ukrainian troops, who have placed their artillery and soldiers on the high right bank of the Seversky Donets River opposite the Svyatogorsk Lavra and around the monastery.
The monastery is now owned by the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, whose activities were banned by local authorities in some cities of Ukraine.
Some supporters of the UOC, like the poet Yan Taksyur, were arrested by the Security Service of Ukraine and charged with "high treason."
Local authorities and far-right formations are taking away the churches and monasteries of the UOC and transferring them to the ownership of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, loyal to the Kyiv authorities.
