On May 26, 2022, it became known that the Ukrainian military detained Gennady Krasilnikov, a participant in two Olympic Games.

He was detained in the city of Chuguev (Kharkiv region, under the control of Ukrainian troops) and is accused of adjusting the fire of the troops of the Russian Federation.

Krasilnikov is an international master of sports in weightlifting, twice set Ukrainian records, took 9th and 4th place at the Olympic Games in the heavyweight category.

In 2014, Krasilnikov was a volunteer and brought humanitarian aid to people in the zone of the "anti-terrorist operation" carried out by the Kyiv authorities against the Lugansk and Donetsk People's Republics.

Judging by the accusations, Gennady Krasilnikov could go to jail for 15 years.
