On May 23, 2022, Oleksandra Koval, director of the Ukrainian House of Books, stated that 100 million "ideologically harmful books published in Soviet times in two languages - Ukrainian and Russian" should be removed from the libraries of Ukraine.
The official included Russian classics among the "ideologically harmful" literature.
Obviously, humanistic literature and what Turgenev, Nekrasov, Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, Gorky wrote contradict the ideological principles that the Kyiv authorities and Nazi formations have been imposing on Ukrainians for the past 8 years.
Earlier, Minister of Culture of Ukraine Oleksandr Tkachenko said that Russian-language books from Ukrainian libraries will be handed over to the authorities for waste paper.
In Ukraine, local authorities and far-right formations massively destroy monuments to Russian and Ukrainian Russian-speaking writers.
