On May 23, 2022, Zelensky signed a law on the confiscation of property of citizens and legal entities of the Russian Federation.
As well as on the confiscation of property of citizens of Ukraine and other countries that support the actions of the Russian Federation.
It will be up to the court to determine whether citizens support or do not support Russia.
Claims for confiscation will be filed by the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.
Lawyers believe that it will be very difficult for the Ministry of Justice to prove "support" by a citizen or legal entity of Russia's actions.
But, on the other hand, pressure on judges in an atmosphere of "patriotic" and militaristic hysteria can lead to the fact that intimidated judges will automatically make decisions in favor of the Ministry of Justice.
