On May 19, 2022, a trial was held in Dnepropetrovsk over the anti -fascist and left activist Alexander Matyushenko.
Alexander was detained on March 3 by the Nazi formation of Azov together with the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
He and his wife Maria were subjected to violence and cruel bullying.
At first, Alexander was accused of "conducting an aggressive war" (Article 437 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, provides for 12 years in prison).
Then the prosecutor’s office, obviously, realized that it was very difficult to prove “conducting an aggressive war” by Alexander even in the conditions of the militaristic hysteria that reigns now in Ukraine, and offered him a deal.
The essence of the transaction is as follows. Alexander pleads guilty of "violation of territorial integrity" (Article 110) and the court puts it by 3 years in prison.
Over the past 8 years, Article 110 has been often used by the Kyiv authorities to accuse journalists and bloggers for their criticizing the situation in Ukraine.
Alexander agreed and signed the deal.
On May 19, the court took place closed. Even his relatives were not allowed into the courtroom, since "there are secret documents in the criminal case."
Also, the defendant himself was not brought to court, referring to martial law. Since "the enemy can free him."
The verdict is expected on May 20 or on Monday, May 23, 2022.
Probably Alexander Matyushenko will be found guilty of violation of Article 110 and sentenced to 3 years in prison.
This will be the first verdict that the Ukrainian court will be sent to left activists and dissenters, whose mass detentions began on March 2, 2022.
You and I, as far as possible, helped Alexander and his family, but help is still needed - to pay for the services of a lawyer.
