On May 19, 2022, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) stated that she detained Oleg Tsarev’s brother and informed him of suspicion of Diversion (Article 113 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Oleg Tsarev is a former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. In 2014 he opposed the Maidan and supported the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics.
Then the Kyiv prosecutor’s office opened a criminal case against him and Oleg Tsarev left for Crimea, under the control of the Russian Federation.
At the beginning of 2022, Oleg Tsarev was called one of the possible leaders of the new government of Ukraine, which will be established after the fall of the current power.
Now he is the director of one of the sanatoriums in the Crimea. He also organized the delivery of humanitarian aid to Ukraine, controlled by Russian troops.
On May 3, the Kyiv court in absentia condemned Oleg Tsarev to 12 years in prison for "public calls to commit intentional actions to change the territory and border of Ukraine", as well as for "public calls for violent change and overthrow of the constitutional system" (Articles 109 and 110 of the Criminal Code Ukraine).
Oleg’s brother, according to the SBU, since 2014 lived in Dnepropetrovsk and the Ukrainian intelligence agencies followed him for a long time.
And only now the SBU found Oleg Tsarev’s brother a whole arsenal of weapons, detained and accused him of preparing the “sabotage” (Article 113 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
This article provides for 10 to 15 years in prison.
