On May 17, 2022, human rights activist Oksana Chelysheva reported that Finland granted political asylum to Ukrainian journalist Vasily Muravitsky: https://t.me/peaceforukraine/2546.
On August 1, 2017, Muravitsky was arrested by the Security Service of Ukraine and charged with "high treason".
He spent 11 months in a pre-trial detention cell, then was under house arrest.
During court hearings, Muravitsky's lawyer, Andrei Gozhy, was attacked by representatives of the Nazi C14 formation with the connivance of the police.
The "high treason" of the journalist, according to the SBU, consisted in the fact that he wrote critical articles about the situation in Ukraine.
Vasily also collaborated with the Ukrainian communists and has leftist views.
In 2021, the journalist arrived in Finland and asked for political asylum there.
The international human rights organization Amnesty international has declared Vasily Muravitsky a prisoner of conscience.
