The investigation into this case was conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine.
The man’s fault was that he, “professing pro-Russian views and acting on ideological motives”, collected and transmitted to the “representative of law enforcement agencies of the Russian Federation” information about a “strategic facility” in the area of the city of Dubno and about the movement of military equipment from Rivne to Kyiv.
The man pleaded guilty and received 13 years in prison.
Prosecutors did not release the name of the convicted person.
Recently, the main number of those detained and convicted for "high treason", "collaboration activities" and other politically motivated charges have been in western Ukraine - Zhytomyr, Rivne and Volyn regions.
