On May 12, 2022, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted President Zelensky's amendments to the law "On the main principles for the forced seizure in Ukraine of objects of property rights of the Russian Federation and its residents."
These amendments make it possible to confiscate not only the property of legal entities of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine, but also the property of individuals from Russia.
It will also now be possible to confiscate property and citizens of Ukraine, as well as any other countries if they are "closely connected" with Russia or support its actions.
How closely the citizens of Ukraine are connected with Russia and how strongly they support it, the court will decide.
