In Ukraine, the campaign continues to liquidate the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) in the territory controlled by the Kyiv authorities.

Earlier we wrote that the mayor of the city of Konotop (Sumy region) and the city council of the city of Brovary near Kyiv banned the activities of the UOC in the respective territories.

In Brovary, on the initiative of the mayor of the city, Igor Sapozhko, the city council even decided to seal all the churches and monasteries of the UOC.

In the Transfiguration Monastery in the village of Knyazhichi, the mayor plans to place an armed detachment of "territorial defense" and transfer all the property of the UOC to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU, a church organization loyal to the Kyiv authorities).

Such decisions are illegal, since neither mayors, nor city councils, nor even the president have the authority to ban any religious organizations and dispose of their property.

On May 12, at a meeting of the city council of the city of Kagarlyk (Kyiv region), the issue of banning the UOC and transferring its property to the OCU will also be considered.

Believers of the UOC will hold a procession on this day. They will ask the city council not to close the temples.

In the regional council of the Volyn region (western Ukraine), deputies - supporters of the Kyiv authorities registered a draft decision of the council to ban the activities of the UOC in the region. The deputies also plan to appeal to the Kyiv authorities with a proposal to ban the activities of the UOC throughout Ukraine.

There is no doubt that in the conditions of the "patriotic" hysteria launched by the Kyiv authorities, the local authorities in Kagarlyk and Volyn will make such decisions.

Obviously, similar decisions will be made by other local councils in the territory controlled by the Kyiv authorities.

Law enforcement agencies of Ukraine do not react in any way to the illegal activities of local authorities.

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has registered a bill to ban the UOC.

But Parliament Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk said that the Rada would not consider this bill until the end of the war. To "not split society."
