On May 5, 2022, relatives of the soldiers of the Azov regiment announced rallies in Kyiv and Zaporozhye.
However, the Ukrainian police did not give the opportunity to hold rallies on the day of the 8th anniversary of the founding of this Nazi formation.
The reason for the ban was that any gatherings have been banned in Ukraine since February 23, 2022, when a state of emergency was introduced, and then martial law.
Some people who came to the rally were detained by the police, but were soon released.
However, a small number of people held a meeting in the central square of Kyiv: https://novy.tv/ru/news/2022/05/05/8-rokiv-vid-dnya-stvorennya-polku-azov-mama-bijczya- mariupolskogo-garnizonu-pryvitala-azovcziv-video/amp/.
Contrary to the prohibitions of martial law, Azov's supporters have already held several actions in Kyiv demanding the release of Mariupol, where Azov is surrounded.
At the same time, the traditional actions of the left forces and trade unions on May 1, as well as the action in memory of the fallen residents of Odessa on May 2, did not take place this year.
These actions did not take place because the authorities announced a "curfew" and there is a threat to the safety of the participants of the action.
