Репресії в Україні /Repression of the left and dissenters in Ukraine On April 30, 2022, the Ukrainian police announced the arrest of Oleksandr Mayevsky in Odessa. https://youtu.be/Q32UWTzXWpw Alexander is an anti-Maidan activist who was injured during an attack by far-rightists and a fire in the Odessa House of Trade Unions…
On May 2, 2022, the State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine (SBI) announced that 12 people were detained during a large-scale special operation aimed at preventing protests in Odessa on the anniversary of the Odessa tragedy on May 2, 2014.
Three dozen more citizens have also been identified who "may be involved" in possible actions in Odessa on May 2.
We already wrote that one of the detainees is Alexander Mayevsky, from Odessa, who was injured on May 2, 2014.
The State Bureau of Investigation announced today that two more detainees are assistants to opposition MP Ilya Kiva.
Kiva himself was accused by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) of high treason and is now in the Russian Federation.
On March 9, 2022, the SBU detained and accused another assistant of Kiva, a deputy of the Poltava Regional Council Oleg Pankratiev, of high treason.
On May 2, 2014, representatives of far-right formations set fire to the Odessa House of Trade Unions. 48 opponents of the Maidan burned down and were killed.
These events became one of the detonators of the uprising against the Kyiv authorities in the Donbass.
For 8 years, the circumstances of the death have not been investigated, no one has been held responsible for the tragedy.
Every year on May 2, Odessans come to the House of Trade Unions to honor the memory of the dead.
And every year, the law enforcement agencies of Ukraine before this date conduct searches and other preventive actions in order to prevent protests.
The Odessans themselves, who came to the House of Trade Unions, are attacked every year by representatives of the ultra-right and Nazi formations.
In 2022, the authorities announced a "curfew" in Odessa on May 2. During the "curfew" Odessans are forbidden to leave their homes.
Now the streets of Odessa are deserted.
