On May 1, 2022, on the Day of International Solidarity of Workers, rallies were organized by the left in many countries of Europe, the Americas, Russia, Belarus, China, and India.
In Ukraine, rallies on May 1 took place only in the territory controlled by Russian troops. In the photo - a rally in Melitopol.
On the territory controlled by the Kyiv authorities, not a single rally took place.
In Ukraine, any rallies have been banned since the introduction of a state of emergency (from February 23, 2022), and then martial law. Although at that time several actions of the Nazi formation Azov took place.
From 2014 to 2021, rallies on May 1 took place in Ukraine, but their number has sharply decreased compared to the period before 2014.
This fact is explained by the fact that many of these rallies were attacked by members of ultra-right formations with the inaction of the police.
Also, representatives of the Kyiv authorities propose to cancel the Day of International Solidarity of Workers.
Also, the fact that on May 1, 2022, not a single rally took place in the territory controlled by the Kyiv authorities is explained by the fact that ALL left-wing political parties are banned in Ukraine, and left-wing activists are subjected to severe repression.
